CONTAINERS

Our OPC 42.5N is an Ordinary Portland Cement with attibutes of high early & late strenghs even though it is classed as 42.5N. its early strength (2 days) reaches upto 25 MPa. whereas its late strengh (28 days) reaches up to 53.5 MPa.It concforms CEM I with strength class 42.5N in accordance with Ethiopian Standard ES 1177-1-2005 as adapted from EN 197:1:2000 Cement Part I: Composition, specifications & conformity critria for common cements. It comprises 95% clinker % 5% gypsum.

APPLICATIONS

  • Suitable for wide range applications where high early & late strengths and quick setting are imporatant considerations.
  • Typical applications include use in general ready-mixed and site-mixed concrete, precast and prestressed concrete, masonry, mortars, renders, & grouts.
  • High strength structure like highrise buildings and structures, bridges, concrete pipes, columns, slabs, beams, suspended slabs, precast manufacturing, silos, slip forming foundations, block making, water retaining structure etc.

CONDITION OF USE

When using cement in construction, there is no substitution for good practice and workmanship. It is always very critical to use the correct materials and measure, and mix the materials properly add the correct amount of water and compact, cure and protect the concrete as appropriate. Concrete and mortar strength significantly affected by mix constituents and proportions, ambient temprature and curring conditions. a durable concrete requiresadequate cement & a low water: cement ration. The cement content must be correct for the application and the water:cement ratio as low as possible consistent with satisfactory placing, thorought compaction and effective curring. Hence
  • Accurately measure all materils
  • Mix thoroughly
  • Add water whilst mixing but avoid adding tooo much water. The more water, the weaker the concrete will be. It is critical to use the minimum amount of water required to make the mix workable.

AVAILABILITY

Our OPC 42.5N is available in bulk, 50kg bags, 1.0, 1.5 & 2.0 jumbo bags.

STORAGE

Cement should be stored dry, otherwise its quality will deteriorate through premature hydration and carbonation. Moisture from air can be as harmful as direct moisture. Bagged cement that has hardned or its lumpy (as a result of being exposed to moisture) should not be used. Please store cement in a warehouse or water proof shed and use the oldest cement first (First in, First Out). Store off the floor on a wooden pallet or plastic sheeting tightly packed together. Kepp doors and windows closed to eliminate air flow. Avoid contact with external walls. When storing outside , create a platform with timber slats covered in plastic sheeting to protect them from rain or water. Also create a ridge for the sheeting in order for the rain to run off instead of forming a pool. Also weigh down the edges of the coversheeting with stones or timber to prevent it from dislodged by wind.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Cement is irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. Keep out of the reach of children. Avoid contact with the skin & eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. Wear suitable personal protective equipment.
